Recovery Coach Academy Part 2 – Ethical Considerations
Recovery Coach Academy Part 2 is an advanced training designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the ethical framework, professional responsibilities, and boundary management required of certified Recovery Coaches. This course builds on foundational recovery coaching knowledge and focuses on the practical application of ethics in real-world peer support settings.
The curriculum centers on the CCAR Ethical Principles, emphasizing confidentiality, professionalism, cultural humility, power dynamics, and maintaining appropriate boundaries. Participants engage in scenario-based discussions and interactive exercises that address ethical dilemmas commonly encountered in recovery coaching, including dual relationships, mandated reporting, self-disclosure, and scope of practice.
Through guided instruction and group reflection, attendees strengthen their ability to make ethical decisions, apply critical thinking, and uphold accountability while supporting individuals in recovery. The training reinforces the role of the Recovery Coach as a peer supporter—not a clinician—while highlighting strategies for ethical problem-solving and supervision.
Completion of Part 2 provides 30 additional education hours toward the Massachusetts Certification for Addiction Recovery Coaching (CARC) credential, fulfilling the full 60-hour training requirement when combined with Part 1. All course materials are included.
